I love to dress up my daughter it has been so much fun over the years to go through all her phases and stages. When she was younger she loved Minnie Mouse and Frozen, as she got into the double digits she went through her tomboy stage, and now that she is 14 she is a beautiful young woman with a serious fashion addiction.
I am very open to her making most of her decisions with her outfits but at this age it is very important to encourage self respect and attention to why she shouldn’t wear certain things or show certain body parts. The best way I found to explain it is to let her know that there are people around that want to see and touch her body inappropriately so she should keep her body to herself. The more she can be respectful of herself the more others will show her respect as well.
Teen girls can be tricky so ensure you give them options that are age appropriate. Keep an eye on the stuff they watch on TikTok and Instagram as those are probably the most influential sources.
Brooke’s summer style has been cute and affordable by buying bulk items secondhand from marketplace on Facebook and lots of items off Amazon. Matching with best friends is one of the biggest trends we have gone through over the last 3 years. They love to get matching pyjamas, shirts, shoes, costumes, and more! These amazing products make great gift ideas for every occasion as well so as the holidays approach remember teen girls are absolutely thrilled to get these as gifts!
Bathing suits are tricky right now with changing bodies and being accepting of how much is being exposed. I will allow Brooke to wear a two piece bikini but it has to cover her bum. I don’t believe teenage girls should be wearing thong bikinis. We keep it simple and bright as it looks great on her tan skin and I can spot her easily when she’s in the water.
Crop tops are a huge deal right now! Brooke has about 50 different crop tops in multiple styles and colours. The crop top is perfect for pairing with almost anything and makes a great layering base. The best deal I have found for bulk crop tops is off Amazon and they are amazing quality! You can probably find cheaper ones but they won’t be nearly as high quality fabric, feel, and production as these ones.
Cargo pants and sweats are very popular right now as well. If you can find cargo sweatpants with wide legs that is the best option. The girls will wear their sweats with a crop top and they look so cute. These cargo sweats are the cutest ones we have found at the best price as well.
Loose fitting hoodies are a great option for year round. The girls used to love wearing form fitting stuff but it is becoming more acceptable to wear baggy hoodies now. Brooke has way more baggy sweaters than she does tight ones.
Leggings are always a great option they are comfortable and can be paired with anything. We tried buying all types of different kinds in all styles to ensure they could be great for all weather. It is much more expensive to buy them individually so I found this great bulk leggings set from Amazon and they are great quality.
As my daughter gets older it’s so nice to have the option to share clothes with her as her fashion sense is quite similar to mine. I am not huge on showing my stomach or super tight shorts but the rest of her clothes are fair game.
All kids need tank tops and muscle shirts for everyday layering and hot days. The basic need for these essential items is not going anywhere anytime soon and buying them in bulk is the best way to save money. I found bulk tank tops for my daughter on Amazon in all her favourite colours for much less than we would have spent even at Walmart.
My kids have decided on having an amazing assortment of quality pieces of clothing and accessories and teaching them to care for these items with respect and appreciation is very important. Teaching them to care for their stuff will ensure it lasts for years and stays in great condition.
Shoes are definitely all about comfort and what is accepted by schools. They are not allowed open toed shoes or sandals due to needing to run in gym so if they wear them they have to go barefoot or sock foot or sit out during much needed physical fitness. Our favourites are definitely Nike Air Jordans running shoes because they are high quality and last for years. We try to ensure we get a size or half size large so they last a few months at least.
The ladies have decided they wish to sparkle and shine in their trendy hair these days as well. The newest creation is the popular and (difficult to apply) hair tinsel.
There are easy clip in tinsel extensions I would definitely suggest those ones or you can try the ones that you apply by forming a loop knot and then tying into the strands of the hair.
Other trending pieces for back to school were my kids water bottles and backpacks. Plain black backpacks were getting hard to find so I found some on Amazon.
The water bottles we got are amazing and keep ice cold all day long. You open them when the day is over and there is still ice inside, and they are very cool looking!
