Our Trip To Kaloya Regional Park

We love to explore local beaches in the area, we are lucky enough to live in such a gorgeous location with lots of wonderful lakes. Lately there has been some nasty E.Coli outbreaks in Okanagan lake so we had to venture out to a different one with no germs. We decided to travel to Kalamalka Lake which is just a few kilometres away from Okanagan lake. Kalamalka Lake is one of the prettiest lakes in the area because of its gorgeous blue/green water.

We went to this beautiful secluded beach called Kaloya Regional Park. There is a large playground, washrooms, plenty of hidden spots along the lake with privacy. The lake is very rocky here so swim shoes are recommended. There are lots of geese as well so watch out for poop and be sure to shower after swimming to avoid lice and swimmers itch.

We brought our paddle board, floaties, and snacks, and went for a nice evening swim. The road is quite curvy and tight so be prepared for a slow and careful ride along the lake. This beach makes for some pretty photos for sure. Make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and water as there is not many stores around. There is one or two small stops along the way but they are a ways up the road in case of emergency. We like to be prepared for outings in the heat by following this simple guide.

The best part of this beach is how many different areas there are to get a secluded beach spot. You go down a trail to the right and can pop out onto the beach into your own little oasis. The water is colder than Okanagan Lake but it was very refreshing on a day that was nearly 40 degrees. You will love how beautiful the water is as well.
