Super Simple Cotton Candy Cake

Summer is just around the corner and it is time for celebrations, parties, and barbecues! I know that one of our all time favourite things about summer is cotton candy! There is nothing quite like the flavour and colour of cotton candy that makes a child’s eyes light up, even grown ups love that sweet flavour melting in their mouths. 

I have created a super easy to make marbled cotton candy flavoured cake with my Hamilton Beach Hand/Stand Mixer that will make you a big hit at your next family event! Not everyone has the time to make everything from scratch and I am one of them so yes this recipe uses cake mix but please feel free to replace it with your own white or vanilla cake from scratch recipe! 

You will need:

Cake

• 1 box white cake mix
• Cotton candy flavoured oil
• Red and blue food colouring

Frosting

• 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
• 3 cups icing sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1/2 cup milk
• Cotton candy flavouring

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease your cake pan. Prepare cake mix as directed on box but add a few drops of cotton candy flavouring to the batter. 

Separate the mix into 3 small bowls. In one bowl add two or three drops of red food colouring to make it a pink colour, add two or three drops of blue to another bowl of batter and leave the other one white. 

Pour the white batter into the greased cake pan  then add the pink and then the blue. Take a butter knife and swirl the batter to create a marbled effect. Bake as directed on box. 

As the cake is baking add your softened butter, vanilla, icing sugar, cotton candy oil, and milk to your Hamilton Beach Hand/Stand Mixer and mix slowly until well combined. 

Take the cake out when done, let it cool and frost with icing. You can split up your frosting into two bowls and add pink and blue food colouring to them to create a cotton candy effect on the surface as well as the inside.
