Budget-Friendly Bathroom Updates

Updating your tired old bathroom and giving it a new lease of life really doesn’t have to mean a costly renovation. There are a number of budget-friendly updates that can and do leave your bathroom looking as good as new, and possibly even like a completely different space.

Here are some of the most frugal bathroom updates for you to try:

Update the Fixtures

A very frugal way to give your bathroom a new lease of life is by changing the fixtures like the faucets, cabinet handles and shower head. You can buy some really pretty fixtures, which have a more ‘designer’ look than standard, and they really do make your bathroom look more expensive, more modern and a lot fresher.

Update the Lighting

If your bathroom’s lighting fixture is old and tired, just replacing it with one of the many low-cost chandeliers you can purchase now will make a big difference. Replacing fluorescent lighting or old bulbs that give the room an unpleasant yellow glow, will also help to improve the look and feel of your bathroom

Create Your Own Vanity

If your vanity is in need of being replaced, but you don’t have the money to buy an impressively modern new one, why not turn an existing piece of furniture that you no longer need into one. You might need the help of a plumber to install it, but once that’s done, you’ll have a unique piece. If you don’t have any unwanted furniture, sites like Craigslist are eBay are a great place to source them on a budget.

Declutter

If you don’t want to spend any money at all, the simple act of decluttering your bathroom can work wonders. Once you’ve thrown out all those old shampoo bottles, hidden your lotions and potions away in cabinets and on shelves, and given the room a good clean, it will look just like new.

Don’t Underestimate Accents

Sometimes, it’s the little things that make all the difference, and this is especially true in the bathroom, where a new set of colorful towels, a pretty soap dish and a handful of feature tiles can make your bathroom look like it’s been interior designed by a professional.

Give Your Tiles Some Attention

If you can stretch to buying new tiles and hiring a tiler, tiling the bathroom is probably the best way to update it to your style. If you can’t do that, then respraying your tiles a new color, or even just redoing the grout, will give the place a big lift.

A New Shower Curtain

Shower curtains cost very little, but replacing them can work wonders because, as you will probably know, they get dirty pretty quickly, and because they take up a fair amount of space in the bedroom, replacing them with a new one, with a different design can be quite transformative.

Frame Your Mirror

Adding an elegant frame to your mirror will make it look more expensive and as a result, elevate the res of the bathroom too.

Even just doing one of these things will make a major difference to the appearance of your bathroom, do them all and your bathroom will look brand new without you breaking the budget!
